Folk rock from Iceland
LÓN is the latest project from Valdimar Guðmundsson, one of Iceland's best-known artists (most notably as frontman of the rock band Valdimar). Guðmundsson has teamed up with musicians Ásgeir Aðalsteinsson and Ómar Guðjónsson to explore their shared folk roots in a soulful Americana style. Now the trio is celebrating its Kornhaus premiere.
The debut album Thankfully Distracted reflects on themes such as ageing, parenthood and the passage of time. With a mixture of jazz riffs, folk charm, rock elements and Valdimar's poignant vocals, LÓN creates a multi-faceted soundscape. Their lyrics speak of the bittersweet process of growing older - embracing the new chapters of life while mourning the loss of youth.
Each member of LÓN brings a wealth of experience and accolades to the group. Together they have won numerous Icelandic music awards, including Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album.
Admission is 15€, for pupils, students and disabled people 10€.
