LITERATURTAGE RÜGEN 2025 - "WHENCE? WHERE TO?"
The Rügen Literature Days have become a permanent institution in November. From November 6 - 9, 2025, renowned authors will once again be coming to the port city. Under the motto "WHERE FROM? WHERE TO", this year everything revolves around questions of origin. And with a rich program that has it all.
Celebrated writer and rapper Andrej Murasov will open the Literature Days with a reading and concert entitled "The sky is so loud." Argentinian author Ariel Magnus will be coming to the island with his highly amusing novel "Die Verbliebenen vom Tempelfeld". Esther Dischereit, nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize 2025, will read from "Eine Handvoll Dollarscheine" and Josephine Soppai will read herhighly poetic text "Klickklack, der Bergfrau erwacht", with which she won the prestigious Wortmeldungen Preis 2025. Markus Thielemann will present his debut novel "Von Norden rollt ein Donner" and Annett Gröschner will read from her highly acclaimed novel of the century "Schwebende Lasten."
The final event will be an event with actor Peter Jordan, who will read from his newly published book "Kein schöner Land" at Sassnitz Glasbahnhof. A reading from the intercultural writing workshop "Letters Found" by the Literaturrat MV, including the Greifswald author Tobias Reußwig and the Ukrainian author Valeriia Karpova, as well as the performance "Journey to the Eleventh Reich" on the occasion of Anna Seghers ' 125th birthday round off the program. In cooperation with Lichtspiel Sassnitz e.V., the Literature Days will be showing this year's German Oscar entry "In die Sonne schauen" by Mascha Schilinski, with the director in attendance.
"Where do we come from and where are we going? And how is this diverse 'we' made up? We want to explore these questions at this year's Literature Days," explains Festival Director Sebastian Orlac, adding: "I'm delighted that we can present not only big names, but also many small, independent publishers." And Anja Sacher, 1st Chairwoman of Grundtvighaus e.V., adds. "The Grundtvighaus is the ideal meeting place for people and ideas."
The festival is aimed at people from the island, but also from the mainland. What could be better than a long November weekend by the Baltic Sea with fresh air, sea views and good literature?
