A professional chicken farmer who is no longer a professional chicken farmer has to figure out what to do with his life - this is the origin of the story by writer and journalist Juli Katz, with which she won the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 2024 Literature Prize. She is bringing her characters Annegret and Walther with her to the Literature Week 2026. Together with Juli Katz, we are launching a new format this year: Literature on the Balcony - an unusual reading on the sun terrace with a sweeping view of our coastal forest.
Juli Katz (*1990) is a freelance journalist who lives and works in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. She writes for regional and national media and focuses primarily on topics from science, politics, culture and the world of work - preferably with a focus on rural areas. In 2019, a professional station took her to Greifswald; she now lives in Neustrelitz. As the author herself explains, her rural life - not least in the company of numerous chickens - was the impetus for her award-winning story.

Admission is possible for persons aged 12 and over (FSK 12). Children under the age of 16 are only admitted if accompanied by a legal guardian or a person of legal age authorized by a legal guardian.
