On 13.11.2025 at 7 pm, the literature circle invites you to the Stralsund City Library for a book discussion of "Die Holländerinnen" by Dorothee Elmiger.
"This novel is an event," was the jury's statement in awarding Dorothee Elmiger the German Book Prize 2025 for her novel "Die Holländerinnen".
A writer tells of her journey into the South American jungle with a theater group in the footsteps of two Dutch women who disappeared there years ago. On this hike, the group tells each other disturbing stories. The deeper they get lost in the thicket and mire, the more Elmiger pulls the reader into a maelstrom of fear. Her novel tells of people who fall into their 'darkest opposite'.
