The novel tells the story of the lives of five young people in the GDR. This could be a tightrope walk between self-created dream worlds, magical festivals and the punk movement, a parallel world between the decay of the building fabric, the economy of scarcity, surveillance and standardized everyday life. The story begins in 1977 and continues through the political change to the year 1990. The defining theme of the book and its characters is longing. Sylvia Frank describes the hopes and dreams, the expectations and disappointments, the desire for self-realization and the failure in the face of reality, the rebellion against systems and the search for one's own path, coupled with the constant feeling of having to achieve everything in this one life. - A fictional novel set against the backdrop of actual events.
