A lecture on the resistance of Catholic clergy under National Socialism
Alfons Maria Wachsmann (1886-1944) was the priest of the Catholic parish of St. Otto Usedom-Anklam-Greifswald.
Wachsmann was openly critical of National Socialism. He was arrested by the Gestapo in 1943 and executed in Brandenburg-Görden in 1944.
In his lecture, church historian Prof. Dr. Thomas K. Kuhn (University of Greifswald) will shed light on Wachsmann's biography and the background to his persecution. He will also discuss the situation of Catholic clergymen in predominantly Protestant Vorpommern and forms of church resistance in the region.
The evening lecture is organized by the Förderverein St. Petri Wolgast e. V.
Admission costs 5 €
