Lecture: Bathing on Usedom
Lecture: Bathing on Usedom - from the beginnings to the present day
The sand of the Ice Age provides many people with their livelihood today. In the past, the poor region on the Baltic Sea coast could live almost exclusively from fresh fish. But then, around 1850, tourism arrived like a fresh sea breeze: shipping across the Swine and the emerging railroad catapulted holidaymakers to their favorite spots on the Island of Usedom in no time at all. With beach chairs, piers and the massive expansion of hotels and restaurants, a quiet fishing settlement quickly became a lively vacation paradise. An entertaining talk by Ingo Zander with at least 4 people.
