Of course, some things here are illogical, but that's the way it is in science fiction films. Eleven-year-old Billie and her best friend Dino receive messages from space with their self-made receiving telescope. No adult would actually believe that. Nevertheless, the two are invited to the ESA's South American space center because they are so "cute" in their enthusiasm.
They fly there with Billie's father, who knows the place pretty well because he and Billie's mother used to work there. Unfortunately, mom never returned from a secret mission into space. At the space station, the two children uncover a secret that has to do with the recent launch of an unmanned rocket into space. During a confused escape from the guards, Billie and Dino end up in this very rocket, which then takes off into space with them.
What are they supposed to do? The whole crew on the ground is beside themselves with worry, but the two young astronauts initially think their journey is pretty cool. It's easy to imagine and they get on well up there, as space is their big hobby. They are amazed when they fly through space and their dream unexpectedly becomes reality. The pictures from up here are also truly unique.
Actress Ava-Elizabeth Awe as Billie and actor Felix Nölle as Dino are able to play their enthusiasm very credibly. The whole story is as fantastic as science fiction can be. However, the movie also has some implausible scenes. It's hard to believe that two children can accidentally get into an absolutely secure rocket that is closely guarded. But that doesn't take away from the movie's suspense and we are really excited to see if they both make it back to Earth. Will they meet the aliens up there?
