On November 13, 2025 at 6:00 pm, you can look forward to a fascinating lecture by Hartwig K. Neuwald on the topic of "Amber - Tears of the Gods" at the visitor information center at the train station in Eggesin.
The lecture illuminates amber in all its facets - from its formation millions of years ago to its significance in cultural history. Hartwig K. Neuwald provides fascinating insights into the geological processes that led to the formation of amber and explains why this fossil "gemstone" has always fascinated people. The focus is particularly on the occurrence of amber in the Ueckermünde Heath, a unique discovery area that still holds secrets and treasures today.
In addition to the geological and historical aspects, the lecture also looks at the cultural significance of amber. In many cultures, amber was and is revered as a symbol of power, healing and beauty. Neuwald will also discuss the role of amber in the region and its significance for the local people.
