Six KARO gAG scholarship holders spent a month in studios and workshops at FRIEDA 23. The final exhibition shows the results of their stay.
Final exhibition of the Summer School 2025 at the FRIEDA 23 art and media center
Since 11 August, six young visual artists have been working as scholarship holders at the Rostock art and media center FRIEDA 23. Elisabeth Rosendahl, Marie-Luise Holländer (Caspar David Friedrich Institute at the University of Greifswald), Emma Broska (Berlin University of the Arts), Sophia Patzer (Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig) Arved Wetzel and Helge Griem have been using the workshops of kunst.schule.rostock. and other diverse offers at FRIEDA 23 for a month.
The call for applications for this year's scholarship was aimed at students of fine arts, design and architecture at universities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as students born in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern at universities outside the state. Graduates who graduated no more than two years ago are also eligible to apply.
The young artists will be accompanied by the artist and gallery owner Holger Stark, the painter Tanja Zimmermann and the photographer Thomas Häntzschel.
The Summer School 2025 is part of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Ministry of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs' support program for young artists. It has been held every two years since 2015 under the auspices of KARO gAG.
The artists will be presenting the results of their study visit to Rostock from September 5 in the "KammerSpiele" exhibition in the "Peter-Palme-Bibliothek" at FRIEDA 23.

Press conference: On Thursday (4.9.) and Friday (5.9.) there will be the opportunity to accompany the scholarship holders during the exhibition set-up, conduct interviews and find out about the project.
