A professional chicken farmer who is no longer a professional chicken farmer has to figure out what to do with his life - this is the origin of the story by writer and journalist Juli Katz, with which she won the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 2024 Literature Prize.
This year, she is on a reading tour through MV with her novel project "Annegret wants to go to Chicago", continuing the bizarre story of Annegret and Walther - she calls the whole thing the Juli Katz Magic Show - so be curious, this will certainly not be an ordinary reading!
From the jury's statement: "To go or to stay? Journalist Juli Katz has given this old question a convincing literary answer for the year 2024 with her wonderfully light-footed story of Annegret."
Juli Katz, born in 1990, is an author and journalist and writes for national and regional media, mostly about science, politics, culture and work - preferably in rural areas. She came to Greifswald for work in 2019, helped set up the Katapult magazine and published a great children's book "Die Tiefseetaucherin". She stayed not only because of the exciting stories, but also because of her dog and chicken - she now lives in a village in Vorpommern. Now that she has won the literary prize, she devotes herself entirely to writing and has been working as a freelance journalist, author and presenter since 2024.
