Carl Harry Kirkeby first set foot on Bornholm with his parents and sister in 1967. Since then, the island has become his second home. The idea for a crime series set there was born in 2022.
Jan Kofoed is a successful and respected investigator at the Rigspoliti in Copenhagen. A personal stroke of fate prompts the 59-year-old to return to his home island of Bornholm. He wants to spend his last years of service here.
The island doesn't really need a permanent investigator, as murders are very rare here. Actually ... When a fisherman's neck is slit on his way home from Svaneke to Listed, Kofoed investigates the murder together with criminal psychologist Ditte Holm.
Thus begins the series of crime novels by author Carl Harry Kirkeby about the Danish investigator on Bornholm. Since then, five volumes have solved murders, shed light on the investigator's private life and shown life on the popular Danish island.
On October 8, 2025, live and in color in the Stralsund City Library: Carl Harry Kirkeby will not only read passages from his books, but also talk about his path to crime fiction and his research work on Bornholm.
"The books are simply brilliant, addictive. "We love Bornholm" is perfectly realized. Despite the deaths."
