The Wayuu people, who live on the Colombian peninsula of La Guajira, live in a very dry desert. Coal mining (also for Germany) further endangers their vital fresh water supply. The film combines documentary and dream and shows the Wayuu's struggle to secure their future. We learn about the resistance of a people who are confronting the effects of resource exploitation and climate change with the power of their faith. An opportunity to find in indigenous cosmology an approach to solving the problems we face as humanity.
This film was a path of self-discovery for Carmela Daza. Her search for identity as a migrant led her to connect with her father's homeland in order to better understand who she is and what is important to her.
