Guided hike for the International Day of Forests
This year's theme is "Forests and food".
Around 30% of the Earth's surface is covered by forests. Forests provide a variety of different services: They provide the raw material wood, filter water, protect against natural hazards, clean the air, serve as a habitat, offer a green space for recreation and relaxation and are an important source of food - fruit, mushrooms, seeds or game meat are provided by the forests.
Old trees are also silent witnesses to history. They also convey a piece of local history in a special way.
Together with the forest ranger Sven Prabel, we hike through the forest, learn about native trees, plants and animals and find out how the forest is used as a "green pharmacy by the sea".
