There are not many names in the pop genre that have been so well known for over 60 years. Frank Schöbel is the most successful singer in the GDR. He received the "Amiga Platinum Award" for the artist who sold the most records on Amiga and thus in the GDR. Frank managed to compensate for his popularity for decades. Initially a household name almost exclusively in East Germany, he gained many new fans after reunification, and his LP "Weihnachten in Familie" (1985), which he produced together with Aurora Lacasa and their two daughters Odette and Dominique, was absolutely his greatest success. With over 2 million copies sold, it is the best-selling record in the GDR.
