Music of the Baltic region from the 17th and 18th centuries
With Ilkka Heinonen (bowed lyre)
Music of the Baltic region from the 17th and 18th centuries
The Baltic region was already culturally united in the Middle Ages by Christianity, the Hanseatic League and soon also by music. The Finnish Baroque Orchestra brings sacred and secular festive music to Usedom, including music by the Italian Carlo Farina, who worked in Gdansk. In between, Ilkka Heinonen improvises on a traditional instrument of Finnish folklore, the bowed lyre, jouhikko in Finnish.
