Darßer NaturfilmFestival 2025: Program section "Beacon"
Water is the basis of all life. But how do you survive if this basis is not secure? The indigenous Wayuu people are confronted with this question on a daily basis. In the desert on the Colombian peninsula of La Guajira, access to water is scarce and the existence of entire villages is in danger. But it is not only the natural conditions that make this endeavor difficult; coal mining and the corruption of the Colombian authorities also pose problems for the desert dwellers time and again. "Territorio Puloui" shows the Wayuu women's struggle to secure the most important basis for themselves and their community. The documentary also provides an insight into the mythology of the Wayuu and tells the legends surrounding the female water spirit Puloui in dream-like animations.
