Darßer NaturfilmFestival 2025: Program section "Beacon"
Horses used to be considered valuable in Mongolia, as they were the livelihood of the nomads. Living with them shaped their culture and tradition and taught them to respect nature. However, the old values that the nomads developed in dealing with their animals have almost been forgotten due to the modern way of life. Today, horses are mainly used as a source of meat. And with devastating consequences. Cruelty to animals in slaughterhouses is not uncommon. In addition, many areas are overgrazed and the meat-heavy diet leads to severe obesity in almost half of the Mongolian population. Naranbadrakh Batkhuu has set out to change this.
