Darßer NaturfilmFestival 2025: Program section "Lookout"

With Maori river warden Ned Tapa in a canoe on the Whanganui River in Aotearoa, New Zealand. The 320-kilometre-long river is the first in the world to be recognized as a legal entity. For over 150 years, the Maori have been fighting to protect their sacred lifeline. Along this spiritual waterway, travelers share stories of resilience, destruction and healing. Through the spirit of the river as companion and storyteller, the film reflects on indigenous wisdom and the interconnectedness of all life.
