Sophisticated applied art by 52 artists in the light-flooded former industrial hall at the Old Port.

Fangfrisch Messe 2025 What is valuable?
For lovers of sophisticated applied art, a visit to the beautiful
UNESCO World Heritage City of Wismar at the beginning of October is a must. For the third time, the Landesverband Angewandte Kunst MV e.V. invites you to the Fangfrisch fair in the light-flooded former industrial hall, the market and event hall at the old harbor.

52 artists from all over Germany will be presenting their works, which are always characterized by an understanding of art, a love of experimentation, creative skill and masterful craftsmanship. Their works invite visitors to discover, acquire, use and preserve them for the future.
The works on display at this exhibition come from the fields of graphics, vessels, games, jewelry, wood, textiles, wickerwork, glass, photography, metal, plastics and sculpture. They can be classified as applied art, can be shrill and rugged, dignified and timeless, modern and transcend borders.

"What is valuable? Art and culture as shapers of society" is the theme of this year's fair. At the Fangfrisch podium on Saturday evening, five panel guests will examine the future significance of applied art from the perspective of politics, education and society. What is art worth - emotionally, socially, economically? What role does it play today, for whom, and how can it remain sustainable? An open discussion about what art can and should achieve - and what it needs to do so.
Fangfrisch Locals is taking part for the first time this year. Eight cultural and art venues in the Hanseatic city

network during the fair. With special exhibitions and activities, they will develop their own answers to the common theme "What is valuable?" and offer insights into their studios, galleries and workshops.
