Of the seven species of sea turtles, the leatherback turtles occupy a special position and are the focus of the 45-minute tour.
During the tour, you will learn interesting facts about the biology of these animals. The cast of the "Marlene" also comes into view: In October 1965, a 450-kilogram leatherback turtle strayed all the way to the southern Baltic Sea. The preparation and exhibition of the reptile marked the beginning of the transformation of what was then the Stralsund Nature Museum into the MEERESMUSEUM. Today, the exhibit is an integral part of the exhibition and is complemented by a bronze cast to touch.
