Susanne Maurer (Berlin) - painting and Jakob Grosse-Ophoff (Rostock) - kinetic sculptures
The wide sky shines. And yet it is not a "real" sky. Susanne Maurer's paintings are not created in nature, nor are they mirror images of nature. Rather, in the spirit of Caspar David Friedrich, she creates fantastic color landscapes parallel to nature with her "mind's eye". She sees herself more like a landscape gardener: "I nurture and cultivate the color on my canvas". Jakob Grosse-Ophoff studied mechanical engineering in Rostock, but now builds moving sculptures rather than machines. These wooden objects, equipped with a small drive, sometimes caricature human behavior for the viewer. For example, an oversized I-planet around which other planets orbit. Together with the two artists, the Kunstverein invites you to the opening on August 29 at 6.00 pm. Admission free. The exhibition runs until 25.10. and is open Wed to Sat14:00 - 17:00.
