The Arno Esch Symposium 2025 - with a keynote speech by former Federal President Joachim Gauck
Democracy is under pressure. Fringes to the left and right of the political center are gaining strength. Against the backdrop of new geopolitical challenges and disruptive technological changes, people are becoming increasingly insecure.
How can liberal democratic forces respond to the new problems? How can resilience in democracies be strengthened and how can we motivate people to become democratically engaged and to stand up for values such as the rule of law, freedom of expression and fairness?
We will be discussing these and other questions at this year's Arno Esch Symposium. The keynote speech will be given by former German President Joachim Gauck.
