Making Indigenous perspectives more visible in cinema and beyond, exchanging and discussing them - this is also the aim of the Indigenous Film Days in Rostock in 2025.
On the occasion of the annual theme Indigenous Economies, the festival will focus in particular on how indigenous societies are integrated into the global economy. It will shed light on how indigenous identity, colonial past and cultural marginalization continue to shape the conditions of economic participation.
The films and lectures in the program focus on Latin America, including Colombia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Brazil. However, the selection of films also includes Cape Verde, Congo and Mongolia.
Detailed information on all films can be found at www.indigenerfilm.de.
Further information about the cinema, directions and admission prices can be found on the li.wu. website: https://www.liwu.de/infos#preise
A festival ticket for €25.00, which includes admission to all films, is available at the cinema.
This year, the festival will be accompanied by an exhibition that presents works by Indigenous content creators and activists and deals with the staging and marketing of Indigenous cultures in the digital age. The exhibition will be accessible throughout the Film Days. The festival will open with the vernissage on Thursday at 6 pm.
As usual, two lectures by renowned experts will round off the program and offer further space for exchange beyond the discussions following the films. Participation in the talks is free of charge and also possible in hybrid form via Zoom.
