with Natalia Anchutina (domra) and Lothar Freund (piano)
an extraordinary concert experience
The domra is a mandolin-like instrument with three steel strings, which is considered the forerunner of the balalaika and is now an established concert instrument in Russia. Natalia Anchutina from Moscow is considered one of the best domra players in her home country and has won several awards. With her poetic musicality and breathtaking technique, she has been delighting music critics and audiences around the world for years. Together with her piano partner Lothar Freund, she presents a spectacular, highly virtuosic concert event with a repertoire that includes both original works and transcriptions of classical concert literature.
In February 2017, the two musicians gave a concert at the famous Carnegie Hall in New York. They are regular guests at renowned music festivals and perform in small and large concert halls throughout Germany and internationally.
Natalia Anchutina studied at the Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow. Her studies were followed by a busy concert career as a soloist and international tours in Asia and Europe. Her program covers all epochs of classical music and includes the entire concert repertoire for domra as well as important works of violin literature.
Lothar Freund studied piano and lied accompaniment in Mainz. After successfully completing his studies, he worked exclusively as a piano accompanist for singers and instrumentalists. He has been Natalia Anchutina's permanent piano accompanist since 2007.
