All citizens are cordially invited to come together to commemorate the victims and take a stand against anti-Semitism, exclusion, and misanthropy.

On November 9, 1938, a new, overt phase of persecution began with the Nazi pogroms against the Jewish population. Synagogues, Jewish businesses, and homes were attacked, looted, and destroyed. Numerous Jewish people were mistreated and arrested, and many of them were deported to concentration camps. The pogroms were another step on the path toward the systematic persecution and murder of European Jews in the Holocaust.

This year, too, the city of Neubrandenburg commemorates the victims of Nazi persecution and honors the Jewish people who were deprived of their rights, persecuted, and murdered.

The memorial event will begin on November 9, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. with a wreath-laying ceremony on Synagogue Square on Poststraße.

This year’s commemorative event in Neubrandenburg, the “City of Four Gates,” is supported by the Lessing Gymnasium Neubrandenburg and the State Agency for Political Education of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

All citizens are cordially invited to join together in commemorating the victims and to take a stand against antisemitism, exclusion, and misanthropy.
