Culture clash comedy about a very potent woman from Lusatia who finds her own personal freedom in Vienna at the end of the 90s
Germany 2025, Written & directed by Maren-Kea Freese, Length: 110 minutes
DA: Fritzi Haberlandt, Meret Engelhardt, Valentin Postlmayr, Stephan Grossmann and others.
Wilma is what you might call a smart woman. In her mid-forties, she is overqualified and works in an electrical shop, breeds alpacas, runs the household, volunteers to give guided tours of the disused brown coal mining area and sometimes practises a little dance with her friends for the Völkerbrigade alumni get-together. Then she is dismissed with warm words, and because she goes home early, she catches her husband Alex and her friend Doris naked
cooking pasta. Wilma runs away - to Vienna, to her childhood friend Martin. He's a big shot, but in faraway Austria he's still a little light. So Wilma has to fend for herself. She is not above sleeping in a mechanic's accommodation, joining the "workmen's line" and finally working as a "girl for everything" for a wealthy family on the outskirts of the city.
