About the group:
The Fuera de Foco Crew ("Out of Focus") combines contemporary dance and hip-hop with theater in their productions and artistically addresses discrimination against marginalized groups. The focus is on topics such as racism, women's rights and access to education. Their productions highlight forms of resistance and make socially relevant issues visible.
The crew was founded in 2016 by dancer Romina Sosa, who has already taken part in the KinderKulturKarawane several times with ensembles from "Crear vale la pena". "Crear vale la pena" ("It pays to be creative") supports children and young people from the Argentinian district of La Cava through art projects, cultural training programs and the establishment of cultural centers. The organization, founded in 1993 by the dancer Ines Sanguinetti and other women, arose from the conviction that art is essential for life. The first community center, "Puertas al Arte" ("Doors to Art"), is still managed by the residents themselves.
This project has since evolved into a state program for cultural education that is implemented in over 40 schools. The dancers of the Fuera de Foco crew are involved as cultural mediators and dance teachers and make an important contribution to the further development of these educational initiatives.
Current piece: ROMPIENDO EL SILENCIO AL VACIAMIENTO SOCIAL - Breaking the silence about social emptiness
"Rompiendo el Silencio al Vaciamiento Social" is a dance theater piece that is an energetic manifesto against the stigmas, stereotypes and prejudices that lead to social divisions. Through "Educación Sexual Integral (ESI)" (sexual education), the piece aims to draw attention to and question the mechanisms of violence and social injustice. It aims to break the silence on fundamental issues such as discrimination, machismo, homophobia and structural poverty and appeals to empathy, reflection and action.
In a world characterized by social emptiness and oppression, five artists convey the pain and resistance in the face of violence caused by social injustice. Through a unique combination of contemporary dance, theater and performance, it shows how stigmas and prejudices influence the way we interact with each other, inhabit space and imagine a possible future. Through the bodies of the performers, the suffering of those who suffer the consequences of an unequal system is expressed.
