On Thursday, September 11, 2025, the listed Papenhof in Barth will be officially opened. Following extensive renovation and conversion into a modern museum on the history of Western Pomerania, the Papenhof will be a central location for culture, education and social exchange.
The opening begins at 2 pm at Papenstraße 10, 18356 Barth.
All Barth residents and guests are cordially invited to experience this special moment. The program includes guided tours of the historic building, musical performances and exciting insights into the history and architecture of one of the oldest preserved secular buildings in the region between Rostock and Stralsund.
The Papenhof was built around 1490 as a meeting house for the Kaland Brotherhood and was later converted into a Renaissance residential building. With over 500 years of history, it is now one of the most important architectural monuments in Western Pomerania.
Guests in historical dress are particularly welcome - they contribute to the special atmosphere of this day.
