Reading at the Volkstheater Rostock
A career as a musician - that was Charlotte's greatest wish. But now it's too late anyway, and she has to find a decent job, if only because of her parents. She finds a job in a publishing house, and Munich is a beautiful city, especially in summer.
In the publisher's antechamber, Charlotte sits very close to the center of power. She soon realizes that he often changes his assistants. But she develops a good relationship with her boss, who recognizes her strengths and trusts her. But she has to put up with a lot, a lot, perhaps even fight hard herself, perhaps even put her health at risk. Maybe even lose Bo, with whom she has just fallen in love ...
Laconic, with humor and depth, "The Assistant" tells the story of a young woman who refuses to be victimized and yet finds herself in a situation that many people know: when your job becomes hell. A novel about resilience and survival.
Caroline Wahl, born in Mainz in 1995, grew up near Heidelberg. She studied German language and literature in Tübingen and German literature in Berlin.
