It's never too late to start a new life: Britt-Marie is a housewife and wife with heart and soul. But when she finds out that her husband has been having an affair for years, it's time to clean up her old life. She moves out and starts looking for a job. However, there aren't many of them in her new home, the small town of Borg. And so, for better or worse, she becomes a soccer coach for the local youth team. Unfortunately, Britt-Marie knows nothing about children or soccer...
