Piano concerto
An evening full of poetic sound art and virtuoso fireworks:
The first half of the concert features the ellegant and playful Piano Sonata No. 13 Kv 333 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the very profound and songful Four Impromptus Op. 90 by Franz Schubert - two masterpieces of Viennese Classicism and Romanticism that combine musical depth and lyrical sensitivity.
After the interval, the Etudes tableaux Op. 39 by Sergei Rachmaninoff is a very special work: the last work he composed before the revolution in 1917 and his associated emigration to the USA, which was to change his compositional style forever. The work - literally translated as "Etudes Pictures" - is imbued with poetic soundscapes, an incredible wealth of color and passionate virtuosity.
