Reading as part of the 1st international literature festival graal-müritz
Together with Mamadou Sow, Azouz Begag wrote the book "Né pour partir" ("Born to leave") about courage, humanity and the irrepressible hope of a young migrant. In 2015, 15-year-old Mamadou sets off from Guinea - alone - to find medicine for his father with cancer in France. His odyssey through deserts, overcrowded trucks and life-threatening boats becomes a harrowing document of flight, cruelty, but also unexpected willingness to help. An appeal against indifference and for humanity. The book won the Institut français 2025 competition at German schools.
