Traditional songs of the Inarisamen people from Lapland
In the far north of Finland, beyond the Arctic Circle, lies the municipality of Inari. This is where Anna Margareeta Morottaja was born. She refounded the musical tradition of her nomadic people: Livđe is the name given to this singing culture of the Inari people. It seemed to have been lost forever until the researcher Marko Jouste discovered recordings of it from the 1960s in the archives of Finnish state radio about twenty years ago. In Usedom's oldest church, Anna Morottaja also presents the art of joik - a Sami singing form that brings people, places and moods to life in sound.
