Reading and discussion with Klaus-Rüdiger Mai An event organized by the Mecklenburg Literary Society as part of the Uwe Johnson Days 2025. Moderation: Carsten Gansel
After Angela Merkel's exit from politics, her mistakes were turned into heroic deeds with a great deal of propaganda - in his critical biography of the former chancellor, Klaus-Rüdiger Mai sets facts against legends and addresses the question: Why did Angela Merkel act the way she did? His aim is to provide a cool and crystal-clear historical analysis. Above all, however, it is about Angela Merkel's great passion: her love of power and how to see through it and demystify it.
