Summer Tour 2025 German-Beninese Afrojazz Funk
Alino Yes Papa is a Beninese singer, songwriter and guitarist who became famous in West Africa in the early 2000s with the group "ZEM" and hits such as "Zande". Together with his wife, the German jazz singer Yes Mama, he now lives and works in Cotonou. In his songs, Alino sings about everyday life, God and love, revolution and gratitude, self-discovery and compassion.
His solo album ALƆGƆ (2015) was followed by joint concerts with Yes Mama in Benin, West Africa and Europe. In 2020, the second solo album Wake Up Africa was released - a musical wake-up call and soundtrack to an African renaissance.
2025 Alino Yes Papa tours in a trio with Yes Mama and drummer and percussionist Amos Chacha, who is well-known in the Franco-Beninese jazz and Afrobeat scene. This new formation creates dense soundscapes of jazz, funk, soul and African rhythms. Their concerts are encounters between continents and cultures - driven by improvisation, depth and joy of playing. The polyphonic vocals of Alino and his wife and the complex West African polyrhythms come into their own in a particularly nuanced way in the trio - without losing the driving funk.
The combination of West African rhythms, Beninese poetry and European jazz vocals creates a unique world of sound.
