Primary school pupil Sita lives with her mother, a busy vet, in a tranquil Dutch village near a canal. Her favorite thing to do is watch frogs. That's why she has signed up for a presentation about frogs at school. But her teacher, Mr. Franz, who is very popular with the children, reacts rather strangely.
He turns green in the face and has to run out of the classroom quickly. After a while, the teacher confides in his pupil Sita and confesses to her that he occasionally turns into a frog and can only become human again if he eats a fat fly. Soon the whole class knows about it. Whenever the word "frog" appears, the teacher Franz turns into a frog and so, during lessons at school, there are always strange situations that the new principal, Mr. Storch, doesn't like at all. Together, however, the children manage to protect their beloved teacher Franz and save him from being thrown out.
"A family film that is as lovingly told as it is humorously exciting, while also addressing serious topics such as daughter-mother conflicts and the exclusion of people who live differently from oneself. " (filmdienst)
