As Eia's parents don't have time for her at Christmas, the girl's Christmas with her own family falls through: the 10-year-old has to spend the Christmas vacations on the wintry farm of a friend of her parents. But the disappointment is short-lived, as the magical magic owl forest, lots of new friends and plenty of adventures await her.
The greedy caretaker Ravio is planning to cut down the ancient forest without regard for the beautiful nature and animals that live there. Together with her new friends, Eia leaves no stone unturned to protect the magic owl forest and uncovers a well-kept secret about her family.
Director Anu Aun ("The Polar Boy") has created a beautifully filmed, opulent and funny family adventure with CHRISTMAS IN THE WIZARDOWL FOREST, which raises awareness of current ecological issues such as nature conservation and sustainability and tells of the incomparable magic of the forest and its animal inhabitants. The focus is on values such as friendship, courage and commitment - and a mysterious, clever owl that will win over moviegoers young and old with a flap of its wings.
Having already won numerous awards in its native Estonia, CHRISTMAS IN THE MAGIC OWL FOREST also delighted audiences at the 24th Schlingel International Film Festival for Children and Young Audiences in Chemnitz.
