On the occasion of euroart's 30th anniversary, we cordially invite you to take part in our tree planting campaign. This special event is symbolic of the growth and creative flourishing within the European network of artists' colonies, euroArt. Trees have already been planted in Dachau and Grötzingen as part of the anniversary. In Dachau, a trumpet tree was planted because it is bee-friendly, while in Grötzingen it was a mirabelle plum tree, which stands for fertility and joie de vivre. Schwaan is also taking part in this campaign to honor and highlight its town twinning with Barbizon and its long-standing membership of euroArt. In Schwaan, a fluttering elm will be planted, a tree whose population is already considered endangered and declining in many regions. With this planting, we want to set an example for the preservation of rare tree species and at the same time choose a species that harmonizes particularly well with the soil conditions in the art park. The fluttering elm symbolizes stability, adaptability and new growth. The tree planting will take place in the presence of the mayor of Schwaan, Mathias Schauer, the deputy mayor of Barbizon, Sebastien Bouillot, the scholarship holders from Barbizon and the long-standing euroart board member, Heiko Brunner. The event will be opened by Annette Winter-Süß, who recently joined the euroart board. We would be delighted if you could be part of this special event and join us on October 25, 2025 at 2 pm in Schwaan, in the art park behind the museum. Afterwards, we invite you to the opening of the exhibition of the scholarship holders from Barbizon, who will be visiting Schwaan from October 19 to 26, 2025. Inspired by the artists of the artists' colony, they will be showing their works for the first time in the Kunstmuseum Schwaan. The opening begins at 3 pm.
