40 years of the HanseGalerie
"Art saves us from life"
The important painter and author Oskar Manigk
(born 1934) gave the title for this exhibition with his painting and the quote from
Friedrich Nietzsche:
"Art saves us from life".
This philosophy of life has carried me through the many
years, both professionally and privately.
Since 1985, the HanseGalerie has been present in Stralsund with exhibitions of contemporary art.
With the political change and the takeover of the state art trade of the GDR, I was able to open the first private gallery in the city on the Sound. In the anniversary exhibition, we are primarily showing works by artists from the region. The light and space of the coastal landscape and the image of people in it run like a leitmotif through the exhibition.
In addition to contemporary artists Oskar Manigk, Frieder Heinze, Reinhard Muschik, Karin Wurlitzer, Annelise Hoge, Thomas Reich,
Eckard Labs and others, old Stralsund masters such as Tom Beyer, Hermann Lindner, Erich Kliefert and Gisela Peschke will also be represented.
