Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet No. 13 op. 130, from which: 5th movement CavatinaTheMorgenstern Quartet, which has continuously enriched Rostock's chamber music scene since 1987, will open the season of the chamber concert series. For many years, the ensemble has dedicated itself in particular to the string quartets of Dmitri Shostakovich. Shostakovich wrote the Quartet No. 8 in Ghorisch near Dresden in 1945 in memory of the victims of fascism and war. With its tonal monogram D-Es-C-H, it is also considered one of the composer's most personal works. Shostakovich dedicated the 15th and final quartet, written almost 20 years later, to his friend Sergei Shirinsky, cellist in the Moscow Beethoven Quartet, who died suddenly.
The extremely expressive Cavatina from Ludwig van Beethoven's 13th String Quartet concludes this special concert.
