The church in Hanstorf, originally an early Gothic fieldstone building from the 13th century, was later supplemented with a nave and a three-sided end with buttresses to the choir using brick. The building stands in a cemetery bordered by a brick wall on a slight hill. It is considered one of the significant medieval buildings of the region.
