She is the most popular representative of Prussia - and of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz: Queen Luise of Prussia. The daughter of Duke Carl loved the beautiful parkland around her father's residential palace in Neustrelitz. Her last family visit took her here before she succumbed to an illness on July 19, 1810, aged just 34, at the nearby summer residence Schloss Hohenzieritz. At the start of your cycle tour, visit the Queen's Memorial Hall in Neustrelitz Palace Gardens, where you will find a marble copy of a tomb statue by Christian Daniel Rauch. On the way to Hohenzieritz, you will also encounter traces of the Ice Age, which shaped this varied landscape. Hohenzieritz Castle houses the Luisen Memorial in the Queen's death chamber. The surrounding English-style landscape park is charming. On the Queen Luise Route, the return journey to Neustrelitz follows the last path of the queen, whose coffin was transferred from Hohenzieritz to Berlin-Charlottenburg in 1810 to great public acclaim.
