Cordial invitation to the "Silent Reading" evening on Wed, 24.06.2026 from 6 pm in the inner courtyard of the city library. Admission free.
As part of the nationwide campaign week against loneliness from June 22 to 28, 2026, the Stralsund City Library invites you to a special event on Wednesday, June 24, 2026: At "Silent Reading", reading enthusiasts will meet in the library's leafy courtyard from 6 p.m. to read together in a relaxed atmosphere - each for themselves and yet in community.
The concept is simple: visitors bring their current book, find a nice spot and enjoy some undisturbed reading time. If you don't have your own book with you, you can of course pick up some reading material in the library.
You are welcome to bring blankets, cushions and picnic items to create a cozy atmosphere. Seating will be provided by the Stralsund City Library.
To accompany the campaign week, there will be a current media table on the first floor of the city library on the subject of loneliness, encounters and community. There, interested people will find selected books, media and information offers that deal with the topic and provide suggestions for exchange and support.
The postcard campaign against loneliness is also a special hands-on activity: visitors are invited to write a friendly postcard on site. These will then be passed on to people via the city library to send small tokens of solidarity and attention.
The event is aimed at people of all ages. It offers the opportunity to experience community without having to talk to each other - a low-threshold offer against loneliness and for more encounters in everyday life.
All interested parties are cordially invited.
Participation is free of charge and registration is not required.
In case of bad weather, the silent reading evening will take place on the 1st floor of the city library.
