The Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023 and the subsequent Gaza war represent a turning point for the political dynamics in the Middle East. This only becomes understandable if they are not viewed as isolated events, but as the result of decades of developments. In order to understand the current situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip, it is important to know the historical and political background.

Uriel Kashi is a historian and works as a tour guide in Israel.
