44th FilmSaloN: GONDOLA

This cable car with its two oval gondolas has seen better days. But day after day, it travels between a mountain village and a small town in the valley in the Georgian Caucasus. The few passengers on the museum-like technical object live in the village. Tourists hardly ever seem to stray into this remote area. At the old conductor's funeral, his daughter Iva (Mathilde Irrmann) arrives from the town and decides to take over his job. Dressed in her official uniform, she now accompanies one of the gondolas, which crosses paths with the other one traveling in the opposite direction at a lofty height. In this one is the young conductor Nino (Nino Soselia). The two women begin to think up little surprises for their fleeting encounters, which soon become more elaborate.
